Pros
Masterpiece of efoils, streamlined, smooth, produced to the highest standards
Improved a lot vs old Ultra1, better shape (little bit longer but more narrow)
Outstanding MN setup and wings!
New small details like Shims etc
Cons
Little bit noisier than old Ultra, I was expecting more quite motor considering how smooth small and thin it is. MN Remote is excessively over engineered and could be simpler and lighter. I think the old remote did the job just fine.
All in all, state of the art machine, perfect for wave riders and those who want to race, ride fast and do rapid turns and carving! Really easy to control and very responsive!
Thanks for posting the review.
Iβve been riding the MN Wave board and foil all summer. The noise is not louder - itβs the same motor. The Foil you tested had the folding prop - this will be a bit noisier than the standard prop β this is what you must be referring to. The motors are the same so they would not be louder in the MN foil.
The motor int he MN wave is different. Itβs only 40mm which means we had to run a 7:1 titanium gearbox to get the torque. The only way to make it quieter is to remove the gearbox but then you would need a 65mm motor that would cause way more drag. We opted for a little more noise for way less drag
Good to know, Chris.
I meant that the non-Wave motor is the same in the MN foil as in the other Aluminium foils, so there would not be a sound difference from this motor, other than because of the prop. The folding prop is a bit more noisy than the non-folding.
You are correct. It is the same motor for the Dual drive MN Mast (Not the one that was tested). It does sound slightly different as the carbon resonates different to the Alloy but you would literally have to ride them back to back to hear the difference.
