Some photos of our prototype as we start to assemble our most current design. Many improvements to come for water intake area to be much more hydrodynamic but really nice looking unit overall.
Quick mid-week progress update as we pick up speed…
Simon, Ian, and I got together in order to go over a few things as we pre-prepare for the next steps forward, and also to test fit a couple of updated parts for the jet housing.
Overall, it was a great day, we nailed down a part, and found a few minor improvements we can do on others.
As you can see in the photo below, we have a sleek, and low profile design. This design has several benefits. Being all rounded and smooth it is easy on the eyes too look at, very durable, and when you kick it under water by mistake (yes it will happen guaranteed) there are no sharp edges. Notice how we don’t have an oversized duct to cause extra drag? This allows us to adds some efficiency while allowing the jet to be positioned down on the fuselage give you more up/down flying area (nearly full range of your mast).
If you didn’t notice above, we have improved on our floating waterproof remote. The overall size is little larger both length and girth for a really nice grip. Wait till you hold one in your hand, I don’t think a grip and get any more comfortable, to be honest.
Also, notice the knuckle/trigger guard now goes out to the end of the top section and we have added the two-way trigger with lots of finger room for both forward and reverse (if you want to activate reverse). This remote works well for eskateboards, efoils, jet surfboards/SUP’s.
If you didn’t read our update from a couple of days ago jam-packed with more great details be sure to read it here: VeFoil Spring Is Here! - Project Progress Update
Our goal and focus here are to create an impressive multi-use jet system for efoiling, jet surfing, and SUPs at the SAME cost that it would cost for a DIY’er (you) to go out and buy the parts and try to build one of your own. Though our creative designs, and group/bulk purchasing power when we launch later this spring we can pass huge savings on to fell enthusiasts who share our passion for being out on the water.
We are doing this to help grow the sport and make it accessible to more people. The amount of time, money, research, and effort we are putting into this is crazy, and we are not getting paid for it. This is a passion-based project, and 100% of all donations from our website go directly into the project - Cad, machining, parts, shipping.
A big THANK YOU! to everyone who is helping make this a success through donations and spreading the word of the VeFoil project on youtube videos comments, forums, blogs, etc.… The more you can help spread the word the lower our overall prices should be upon initial product launch/bulk order of parts and shipping. We have been able to cover a good chunk of the costs, and we hope more of you will continue to support us as we enter the most expensive final stages of this process. And remember, if you donate to help us during this development stage you will be notified of our launch to get our VeFoil system at cost this spring. We should be well under the $2K price tag!
We will have another update soon, more good news on its way!
