SAVA Brand Jetboard - Is it Legit?

I don’t defend anyone because Ihave no experience. But I compare whith the real information I have and try to stay objective.

I know you’re a huge fan of jetsurf, you get bunch of them and I know they.re the best board and leading the market…but at one point it could be great to be more open minded for cheaper option.
I’ve read the DLE topic before and at the beginning you’ve said the exact same kind of cliche review before testing one of them.

And then you try one and admit that’s not bad for the price… I didn’t say you recommand them but they are legit for you now.
You should not judge a board before seeing it in real, be ause you just can’t.
Maybe this SAVA is also not so bad relate to the price? Not as good as jetsurf or even DLE, but a decent 4500$ board.

When I did further research about Jetboardamerica I find is youtube channel, and the 2 video he have are about this SAVA.

If he read this I would love to see some DLE close up construction video also.

So he know what the SAVA is for real, and for a DLE US distributor he stay pretty objective, admit SAVA make evolution to make the board better, but also admit that for the moment the buyer are beta tester.

But I guess it was the same for the first gen DLE, or even the first gen jetsurf…. The fact that SAVA make evolution show that they want to getting better and they take it seriously.
The customer services sound quit good, they send to jetboardamerica basically all the parts he asking for.
(sound like he replace everything except the engine)

So the board is still development, for the moment with the evolution he did ( I hope they come as standart now) the board is ok, not really great ( heavy and slow ) but maybe with more evolution it will become a good low price board.

Hi All

Can we expand on this topic a bit please as I too am looking at one of these boards with great interest. I would love to get into this hobby but economies of scale is preventing this activity becoming a great and easy practical pastime for anyone looking at it, because the cost of boards is just ridiculous.

There is one major company ‘Jetsurf’ who are selling these boards at extremely over inflated prices and preventing it from being something lots more people can get into. Even the cost of these ‘KOOTU Jet Surfboards’ is expensive but in comparison its more realistic to where new ‘Jetsurfs’ should be selling for.

From what I can see and technical nuances aside, what we are talking about is a basic two stoke engine in a waterproof compartment, jammed inside an adapted surfboard with a jet prop and electronics which is not really difficult to replicate for manufacturers. So why are these things costing more than some brand new high end motorcycles. Economies of scale obviously but it still a ridiculous spend.

And as @ Ryan_Currin has said ‘Jetsurfs’ will have their issues also. These are mechanical machines and even though manufacturing has improved over the years, all machines are susceptible to breakdowns and general maintenance no matter what. BMW’s one of the most over engineered cars ever are great when they are running well but when problems develop they are one of the worst cars to own.

So back to the main point of jet boards being simple machines, can we just use them for that and are ‘Jetsurfs’ really that much better. Of course they’ll have the edge with design and possibly reliability, but that much better, really!

And what happened to a hobby where you could actually get involved in, owners taking responsibility for their breakdowns, fixing things themselves. Corroded pipes are easily replaced, engines are capable of being repaired to an extent also. They do need to be of a decent standard and not break after first use and are fit for intended use but they shouldn’t be that bad.

When these boards are available from Ali at near £2500 when on discount they make an interesting prospect. But what we don’t want is a £2500 doorstop that we are always fixing just to try and use once.

And people give Ali a bad rep but I’ve found their service generally very good, and after sales has improved greatly now if there are issues. I have had some amazing bargains via Ali, especially electronics and the returns have been good, if it wasn’t what I’d thought it would be.

I’d love to own a Jetsurf but even at £6 grand used I cant see it ever happening.

Jetsurfs seem to be a victim of grossly overpricing as e-bikes were which still are but getting slightly better because of the numbers out there. We are never going to have that luxury with jet boards though because of it being way more niche.

Question is are these boards really that bad? Or a good starter into this sport and to get more of us on the water now and getting jet surfing more popular?

Kootu and sava jet boards are the same their made at sava’s conpany.

Are you interested in one of these boards as well then Brian?

Yes I want another 1. I also want a jetsurf

Where are you Brian are you UK based?

2500 is a good deal isn’t it. Its a huge saving in comparison to a branded jetsurf !

Ali has been good for after sales for me as well.

I’m in the United States. 2500$ is scary because it sounds like it might not work. At least 4000$ on a board would let me think it might work.

Its around 3300 US which is still a lot of money. There would be no reason why it wouldn’t work would it. They are selling you a product which should be as described. Ali does have customer service as well so they cant sell you a dud and not take responsibility. There are limits I suppose but it does need to be fit for purpose, if its not then they should provide you with a refund.

Safety devices filure like you had before was really unlucky. That is one thing I think I will test and test again if I ever get one. I would hate for it to shoot off and never see it again. Or shoot of then cause an accident and then you are liable.

I am having some health issues at the moment but hopefully if that all goes well I will be in the market for one. I think I may even see if there are any meets I can go to and speak to owners. I’m sure I would get a better feel for it then and perhaps be better equipped to buy one. I don’t mind some basic maintenance myself, as long as its generally reliable.

I made a breakaway key that has a metal bracelet instead of cloth it seams to work. The Kootu or SAVA board would be cool I’m thinking about getting one again because I like the board but the motor I don’t really care for I like the blue penguin motor. I really want a jetsurf with the extra gas tank and alternator. But it’s so expensive.

Also the electronic on the SAVA board also failed on the previous board I have.
